Hi, when I power on my Headspace 7697A it's show this message "vial EPC SHUTDOWN to restore operation press Vial and on", but when I press "Vial" and "on", the problem showing again
where i set that pressure? in the vial fill pressure?
Could it be that the sample probe is clogged?
The 7697A HS has a purge flow always flowing through the sample probe to keep it clean. This is supplied on the same path as the vial pressurization. Check the pressure of the He or N2 gas that is used for this purpose. A pressure of 50-60 psig should be sufficient.
Thank you for your answer. I did the leak test and fail in the first step, my sample probe was clogged so, I taked it and washed it in 4 steps with NH3, HNO3, HCl and water and now it's working fine.
The standby vial flow can be changed under the configuration settings on the HS. Press Config on the front panel to access these.
I think if the sample probe were completely clogged it could cause this problem. Run the built-in restriction and pressure decay test under Service Mode. The first part of the test sends flow through the probe and makes sure that there isn't any restriction. You'll need the blue leak test vial that was included in the 7697 ship kit. A short guide on leak testing the 7697 can be found at https://www.agilent.com/cs/library/usermanuals/public/G4556-90001.pdf. If the test fails at any step it will halt the test, and the guide outlines the likely causes of the problem.
Good to hear it is a simple fix. Sometimes it's easier to just replace the probe. Also, make sure that the vials are less than half full to avoid the probe touching the sample, as this can cause the probe to clog.
