Then the transfer line goes directly into the inlet valve and no liner is necessary. The sampler's user manual would describe that perfectly.

What type of inlet do you have? You will need an inlet liner unless your inlet is a Volatiles Interface. For USP 467, it is more common to use a Split/Splitless inlet. In that case, we generally recommend a narrow ID liner for low split ratios (Class 1, 2) and a standard split liner for larger splits (Class 2, 3).
A recently released app note done on the 7697A/8890 recommends p/n 5181-8818 (https://www.agilent.com/cs/library/applications/application-residual-solvents-8890-GC-5994-0442en-agilent.pdf )
Another one done several years ago on 7697A/7890A recommends the UI low pressure drop, p/n 5190-2295, although the chemist removed the glass wool.
