dissolution test of dietary supplements

Dear all,

I have to test the dissolution of several dietary supplements. In particular I'm going to analyze the dissolution of vitamin C (different %) in tablets (normal dosage)

Reading the Eu.Ph. I don't understand what is the right medium to use and the right  analytical protocol to follow.

Do I have to use water or, even if tablets are not formulated to be gatroresistant, do I have to put tablets in HCl 0,1 M (or similar) pH 1-2 for 2 hours and then (if the disintegration will be not complete) change medium to a basic solution (pH 6,8) for 6 hours?

Thank you

antonella
