Is it possible that high Mw polymer damages C8 column?

Question

Hi, the column we use is C8 3um 50*4.6mm. Recently, we included one excipient (high Mw polymer-800K) into the product. We need to run assay method to determine drug strength (small molecule). If polymer can be dissolved in the diluent but can not be separated from sample, I am wondering if the high Mw polymer will clog the column and damage the column. Is there any way to protect the column? Thank you.

When the polymer is well dissolved in the sample, and is not precipitated in the mobile phase when the sample is injected, it won't clogg the column. 
 But the polymer is retained on the C8 stationary phase because it has some hydrophobic backbone, the polymer will be trapped on the C8 phase and hence can change the retention behaviour of the stationary phase. In that case it might be an option to rinse the column according to the procedure as mentioned in the users guide 820000-999-LCUserGuide-LO-Final.pdf (agilent.com) . 
 But it is better to avoid matrix components build up on the analytical column by using a guard column LC & LC/MS Columns - Cartridge/Guard Cartridge Systems Compatibility Guide | Agilent
