Missing Firmware for G6691A Flow Meter and G6693A Leak Detector

Situation: It was discovered that, between April 2022 and May 2023, thirty-two handheld units used for the G6691A Flow Meter and G6693A Leak Detector did not have properly installed firmware. This left the units stuck in “Calibration Mode”. The error cannot be cleared using the Red Cargo website to update firmware. A list of the impacted part and serial numbers is included.

See the Attachments for examples of the OLED screen with each unit in Calibration Mode. The error in the Leak Detector will be immediately recognizable and the meter unusable. The Flow Meter will read accurate flows, with the only indication that something is wrong being the circled “X” next to the battery icon. If the customer navigates to the Information screens, the Error/Warning page will show error codes 0003 (pressure/temperature sensor failure), 0005 (no mainframe information), and 0008 (expired cartridge). See the Attachments for examples of the error codes.

Solution: If the serial number of your Flow Meter or Leak Detector handheld unit appears on the included list, do not continue use. Please contact your local Agilent Technical Support representative to have the meter replaced free of charge. Do not return the defective unit to Agilent. Please contact your local government agency or facility operator for the proper disposal of the instrument and batteries.
