  • Outlier Setup in MassHunter Quantitative Analysis Software

This Information Applies To: Agilent MassHunter Quantitative Analysis Software Issue MassHunter Quantitative Analysis allows limits to be set on many result values, and for results outside these limits (outliers) to be flagged in the batch report. The following procedure introduces the use of outliers within the MassHunter...

Using the Batch Table in MassHunter Quantitative Analysis Software

Answer

This Information Applies To: Agilent MassHunter Quantitative Analysis Software

Issue

Batch Table can be configured with many different data columns. This article uses an existing demonstration batch with method and analyzed data files to view different possible layouts.

Steps to follow

Tip  Tip: Use the demonstration batch file at X:MassHunter/Data/QuantExamples/MS/VOA/VolatileOrganics.batch.bin.
  1. From MassHunter Quantitative Analysis click File > Open Batch and navigate to X: MassHunter/Data/QuantExamples/MS/VOA/. Select the VolatileOrganics.batch.bin batch file. MassHunter Quantitative Analysis will display the data using the default layout.

  2.  Restore the default layout/views before completing this demonstration: Select Restore Default Layout > Flat Table and Display Single Compound / Sample in Batch Table icons on the top right of the Batch Table menu bar.

  3. The Batch Table will display the analyzed results. Sample information appears on the left and Compound information appears on the right.

  4. Information in the Batch Table is separated into several primary sections where each section contains its own group of columns. Select and ordered the columns by right-click the relevant Batch Table Sample header or Compound header > left-click Add/Remove Columns…

  5. There are multiple ways to order the columns of information within each of the primary sections, but you cannot move columns of information between different primary sections. You can drag a column heading to a new position within that section or you can use the Add/Remove Columns… window to change the order of the columns. You cannot change the order of the primary sections (i.e. you cannot place any Compound section before the Sample section).

  6. Click View > Batch Table Layout in the top menu and then click the desired table layout. Alternatively, click the view icons on the top right of the Batch Table menu bar (Figure 1), or right-click menu in the Batch Table to assign a table layout.

Figure 1. Select different table layouts in the batch table

    1. The default view is currently selected with the following view icons selected (Figure 1):
Flat Table – each sample has a single row in the Batch Table and the sample section information is displayed across the table.
Display Single Compound/Sample in Batch Table – displays only one compound section at a time.

    2. Click the Display Multiple Compounds/Samples in Batch Table view icon. The view is now set to display:
Flat Table – each sample has a single row in the Batch Table and the sample section information is displayed across the table.
Display Multiple Compounds/Samples in Batch Table – displays multiple compound sections across the table.

    3. Click the Compound Table view icon. The view is now set to display:
Compound Table – each compound has a single row in the Batch Table and the compound section information is displayed across the table.
Display Multiple Compounds/Samples in Batch Table – displays multiple sample sections across the table.

    4. Click the Display Single Compound/Sample in Batch Table view icon. The modified view is set to display:
Compound Table – each compound has a single row in the Batch Table and the compound section information is displayed across the table.
Display Single Compound/Sample in Batch Table – displays only one sample section at a time.

  7. To restore the default layout/views before completing this demonstration: Select Restore Default Layout > Flat Table and Display Single Compound / Sample in Batch Table icons on the top right of the Batch Table menu bar.

  8. To assist in identifying outliers (out-of-limits results) after analyzing a batch, MassHunter provides a Quantitation Message Summary and an Outlier Summary plus highlights those cells in the Batch Table (Blue for below low limit and Red for above high limit) for results that have outlier limits set, for more details see Outlier Setup in Agilent MassHunter Quantitative Analysis.
