What is the Default Login Password for GC/MS Acquisition Software

Answer

This Information Applies To: GC/MS Acquisition Software

Issue

This article explains the login options and the default password (if available) for different versions of the Agilent GC/MS Acquisition software.

Steps to follow

For the GC/MS MassHunter software Before version B.07.02

The MassHunter Acquisition software does not have login access.

For the GC/MS MassHunter software In version B.07.03 or higher

There are three access options available: Standard Workflow, User Management and Audit Trail Only and Compliance Mode (see Figure 1).

a. Standard Workflow. No audit trail, user roles, or compliance features will be installed. There is no login access, you could directly log in without a password.

b. Activate User Management and Audit Trail Only. Enables viewer, reasons management, and prompt dialogs (audit trail always occurs). Acquisition software has the login access based on Windows User management and Security Groups. During installation, the software creates four Windows security groups: Acquisition Analysts I; Acquisition Analysts II; Acquisition Analysts III; Acquisition Managers. Group privileges are editable.

c. Compliance Mode. Compliance support features with ECM will be installed, this option requires that the computer is connected to an ECM server and the ECM client is already installed on this computer. For information on login access, please contact an Agilent Support Representative for assistance.

During the software installation, the operator will be asked to choose one of the Feature types (Figure 1).

Tip
Note: The Standard Workflow mode can be upgraded to User Management and Audit Trail only or Compliance Mode. From the Computer Control Panel, select Programs and Features, select Agilent MassHunter GC/MS Acquisition and click Change. Select Activate User Management and Audit Trail only or Activate Compliance and click Next, follow the installer program prompts to complete the process

If you want to upgrade from User Management and Audit Trail only to Compliance mode, or change from User Management and Audit Trail only or Compliance mode, to the Standard Workflow, you have to uninstall the software and select the Standard Workflow mode during the reinstallation procedure.

For the MSD Productivity ChemStation software

If the security is activated by accident, the system asks for a username and password to log in to the Acquisition software. The default login username and password are both "manager". If the “default” password is changed, this procedure will not work. You could disable the security by clicking the menu Security Control - Disable Security (see Figure 2), you will not be prompted to enter a password.
