Answer
This Information Applies To: Agilent 7693A automatic liquid sampler tray
Issue:
The orange Align Mode light comes on. The sample tray of the Agilent automatic liquid sampler 7693A will not operate again until the alignment procedure has successfully completed.
The sample tray has been factory-aligned before shipment. Agilent does not recommend performing this procedure unless the Align Mode light turns on, or if an Agilent support representative request it to be performed.
Please do not confuse ALS alignment, with ALS calibration. During alignment, the ALS tray gantry will basically calibrate the X, Y, and Z axes. Calibration aligns the sample tray with the injector turret position.
Steps to follow:
1. Use a long, narrow object (such as a pen tip or paper clip) to press the recessed alignment button to the left of the indicator lights. (see Figure 1)
Caution: Avoid contact with anything behind or around the button inside the recessed hole.

The orange Align mode light blinks during the following steps:
a. The gripper power calibrates.
b. The gantry calibrates the X, Y, and Z home and span settings.
c. The gantry is zeroed to calibration position (X, Y, Z).
