OpenLab Control Panel C.01.09 Crashing

Hello

When I try to open the OpenLab Control Panel (C.01.09[144]) it crashes at the 'Finishing Initialization' stage. This is after the computer it was on was upgraded to Windows 10. This persists even after a complete uninstallation/reinstallation of the software.

I've found some error logs in the Windows Logs, indicating a .Net Runtime issue raised by OpenLab, followed 1 second later by a application issue. The error codes are listed below, in oder:

Any advice would be appreciated. I've followed the same steps on other instrument computers being upgraded to Windows 10 without any issue.
Thank you
  • Hello,

I added tags to this post to increase visibility.

When you say that the system was upgraded to Windows 10 right before the errors started to occur, do you mean that this was an in-place upgrade that was performed on a Windows 7 or Windows 8 machine that already had OpenLab ChemStation installed on it? If so, then FYI that is technically not support.

Normally in those situations I would recommend that you roll back to the older version of Windows, but since you have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling OpenLab ChemStation in Windows 10 then I don't suspect that would resolve anything.

The errors you found in the Application log do not really provide us with much insight into what the root cause of the problem is. We would need to collect more logs from your system to try to determine that, and the Agilent Community is not really the best forum for that type of in depth analysis so I would recommend that you contact your local Agilent support if you want to pursue that route of troubleshooting: Contact Us | Agilent

Overall, I think the quickest resolution for you at this time would probably be to just reimage the system with a fresh copy of Windows 10 (after backing up all of your data, methods, etc...) and then proceed to install C.01.09 on the new OS. As long as your follow the OS configuration steps outlined in the installation manual then you should not run into any issues.

    Hopefully this helps.

  • Hi, I Have a similar problem With Openlab Chemsation C01.10 (201), with the same exception code (c0000005). In my case there is not a change in the operating system, and the crashes seems random. Sometimes the softare shutsdown after a few hours running, sometimes doesnt crash at all.
