The following digestion method has been shown to be effective for digesting lithium carbonate samples: Weigh 0.3 g of solid sample was weighed into a PTFE digestion tube and add 2–3 mL of concentrated HNO3 slowly. Cover the tube and heat on a hotplate for 120 minutes at 120 °C until the solution is clear and transparent. After cooling, make up to 30 mL with ultrapure water (Millipore Milli-Q).
