1.1-micron spatial resolution Agilent Cary670/620 FTIR microspectroscopy

Hi,
Agilent Cary 670/620 microspectroscopy now has a spatial resolution of 1.1 microns. Please, what is the physics behind this improvement considering spatial resolution is dependent on wavenumber and numerical aperture.

 The measure of how closely lines can be resolved in an image is called spatial resolution, and it depends on properties of the system creating the image, not just the pixel resolution in pixels per inch (ppi). For practical purposes the clarity of the image is decided by its spatial resolution, not the number of pixels in an image. In effect, spatial resolution refers to the number of independent pixel values per unit length. 
 
 Its not dependent on Wave Number but definitely Numerical aperture has the big role on resolution as Numerical aperture determines the resolving power of an objective, but the total resolution of a microscope system is also dependent upon the numerical aperture of the substage condenser. The higher the numerical aperture of the total system, the better the resolution.
