How to detect products of ammonia combustion, such as nitrogen oxides, CO, CO2, etc. with 7890B?

    That’s not a question about an instrument, but the technique in general. Can this be solved with GC and do we have the application notes for it.

    For everything other than nitrogen oxides (NOx) you will find plenty of application notes with our Application Note Search program SCANVIEW, you can freely download it from here. Your instrument needs to be equipped with either TCD or MS (or HID, if it's traces).

    Now the NOx part: only N2O and, under very special circumstances NO, can be analyzed via GC. All the other nitrogen oxides cannot, because of chemical reactions between them and oxygen, like internal dimerizations, oxydation, etc. I will repost an old article about NOx in August, stay tuned. You would need spectroscopy to do NOx analyses.
