Guard Column fo rPrepHT XDB-C18

Question

Hello, 
 We have purchased the preparative Cartridge column (PrepHT XDB-C18; P.N: 977250-102) with two end fitting kits (P.N: 820400-901). It is noticed that guard column is in part of the preparative column according to the manual. May I know if the guard column is also required to purchase separately and which guard column would be appropiate for use? Besides, is it necessary to install guard column for use?

 in prep LC the guard columns are often omitted (or used as short column itself), it is never included in the main column purchase. For the 7 &micro;m phase there even isn't a dedicated guard column. Here are the existing ZORBAX XDB-C18 columns: 
 
 But you can use another C18 material as guard like:
