Good morning. I'm going to start off by saying I am a complete newbie to using a GC MS analyzer. I came from a medical lab (no GCMS) and now I am at a cosmetic chemistry lab that focuses on nail products. We currently have an Agilent 6890GC and a 5975 MS. I have completely taught myself how to use the GC but now I need to start running samples. My question is this, how to I go about making an internal standard and using that to generate a calibration curve? We currently use the GC MS to analyzer what is in certain nail products. Since there are so many materials that I don't know where to start. I have run a couple in-house simple monomers (o.oo3 g HPMA into 3.00 g Ethyl Acetate), and from the area percent reports it gives an estimation of what's in the materials. However, I need something more specific like calculating the percent mass. Sorry for the simplicity of this question but I am completely lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
