Inquiry for Suitable GC Column for CO2 Hydrogenation Reaction Analysis

Dear Agilent Team,

I am currently working on analyzing the products and reactants of a CO2 hydrogenation catalytic reaction using an Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph equipped with dual FID detectors. Our primary objective is to determine the concentrations of CO and CH4 in the reaction mixture. Additionally, we need to measure the remaining quantities of H2 and CO2 in the system.

Here are some specifics of our application:

  • The reaction involves high concentrations of CO2, up to 20%.
  • Post-reaction mixtures contain small amounts of water vapor.
  • The main products to be detected are CO and CH4.
  • We also aim to quantify the residual reactants H2 and CO2.

Given the conditions described above, could you please recommend a suitable GC column that can efficiently separate CO, CH4, CO2, H2, and also handle the presence of water vapor?

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your recommendations.
