How do I have a retention time label appear on my internal standard peak when using GC Quantitative analysis program?
What software product are you running (OpenLab CDS, MassHunter Quant, etc...) and what revision (found by going to File>About or Help>About)?
Masshunter workstation software
Quantitative Analysis Version B.09.00/Build 9.0.647.0 For GC
On the sample reports the target peaks have a retention time label but the internal standard peak does not.
What report template are you using? Could you please provide an example what you are seeing? The report PDF would be great or a screenshot would also work.
Trying to figure out if this is report setup issue or a graphics setting. This is not a spacing issue, since the ethanol peak retention time appears even if higher than the internal standard peak.
What is the report template that you are using? If it's a custom report, what was the template that you started with? That will will help us determine why the other peak is not being labeled. It may be a result of the type of chromatogram used.
We use a custom report built on the General sample report, but even the default Gen_sample.report does not show IS retention time when run with our data.
Thanks for that info. I was able to replicate the issue on my system and found a way to label the ISTD.
Editing the Sample Chromatogram Graphic Settings in the Reporting method to match the screenshot below created the chromatogram from the Gen_sample that follows. The key settings for the ISTD label are a combination of choosing Overlay ISTD compounds and deselecting the Show target peak labels on TIC.
In this example, the ISTD is at 8.403 minutes. I also included the sample name, which you'll see is checked under the Check labels list.
Thank You. Following your settings does allow the ISTD retention time to appear finally, but creates a confusing report page.
Removing the target peak overlay keeps the ISTD times but the target peaks RT are gone. The overlay setting forces the report to show the times because there is more than one ISTD peak, but otherwise the settings/report is unable to produce target and IS retention times on one signal. Apparently I need a checkbox for "Display ISTD and target peaks." or this is not possible with this format. What may seem possible to a bench analyst is not always possible for a programmer as I have found over the years.
I'm curious. Are your target peaks labeled if you check all of the boxes that are selected in the Sample Chromatogram Graphic Settings screenshot?
This is what is printed when using the exact boxes as the screenshot
After looking into this behavior more, it turns out that labeling the ISTD is not currently possible in this situation. An enhancement request has been logged. There is no time line for when this will be available.
