I am running a beginner at GC and am using a GC 6890N with a 5975 MS and I am getting a regular back inlet pressure shut-down message when I try to prep my run. Can I get some assistance on why this may be happening?
What is hooked to the back inlet? I assume the MSD is the front inlet.
Before starting the run, turn off the inlet temperatures and oven temperature and check what happens when you manually turn the back inlet pressure on/off. What is the set point pressure, and what actual pressure is achieved? Is a column installed to the rear inlet?
Is the rear inlet being used at all? If no column is installed to the rear inlet, then the method settings should be changed to have the pressure off.
If a column is installed, then check to make sure the pressure set point can be achieved. If you have a column installed but turning pressure on you can't meet the set point, then there may be a leak and inlet maintenance needs to be done to fix the problem.
Thank you for the responses all! My inlet wasn't connected to anything and the pressure in the method it was set to was unreachable. Thanks again for the help!
Happy to help--this one has gotten me plenty of times.
