Running Virtual XP on a new computer

We recently had to create a virtual XP machine on a new computer because we had hardware issues with the old computer.  Our computer group imaged the old computer and installed some software to allow the new computer to "virtually" run XP, which we needed to run Chemstation version A.09.01.  There are two 6890 GCs controlled by this computer.  One of the instrument seems to open up normally.  However, when I try to open the online for the other instrument I receive the following error "HPCORE caused a General Protection Fault in module WIN87EM.DLL at 0001:02C9.  Choose Close.  HPCORE will close."  The instrument that is giving the error does use a third party software to generate a report in Chemstation so I was wondering if that has something to do with it.  Is anyone familiar with this error and what might be causing it.
