Computer System Validation
i am the developer of the "Authentication" in Lab Advisor.
Lab Advisor AuthenticationLab Advisors User Database (called "Legacy Lab Advisor Authentication Provider" in newer versions) is completely separate from OpenLAB there is no Connection between OpenLAB and Lab Advisor! The reason behind this: We have customers that don´t use OpenLAB but third party chromatography data systems, so we can´t make OpenLab a dependency of Lab Advisor. Lab Advisor is completly stand-alone in this regard.
That said, we implemented the "Authentication" concept in Lab Advisor in a way that we can have different authentication sources, possibly one such authentication source could be OpenLab in the future, if we choose to develop a authentication provider plugin for OpenLab
Interference between Data Systems and / Lab Advisor
If you use our LC drivers (which OpenLab and most third party data systems do). They will set a lock on your instrument once a sequence is started, that lock will prevent any other software connecting to your LC from interfering with settings during a running sequence / sample. There are edge cases where you might be able to bypass this locking concept, but generally it works as expected and should prevent changes to the instrument during analysis.
Would you mind providing us with more information on which OpenLab software product your question pertains to?
Also, could you elaborate on the Lab Advisor policies you are asking about? Sorry, but I am not all that familiar with Lab Advisor. I have not heard of it interfering with OpenLab software though as long as you are not trying to connect an instrument to both OpenLab and Lab Advisor at the same time.
Let’s say to create authorized users
If a user is created in OpenLab CDS v2.4, should I created in the LabAdvisor as well? Or maybe LabAdvisor intention is similar to the instant pilot?
Once a sequence is running, is there a chance that it can be interrupted via Lab Abvisor?
Thanks for the clarification. I am going to move this post over to the LC section of the Community where it is more likely that someone familiar with Lab Advisor will see it.
The answer to this will also depend on the Authentication Provider your OpenLab CDS 2.4 system is configured to use (Domain or Internal).
This is correct. If using the windows logins, the authentication would be the same, but if using software specific logins, there would be no connection between the usernames in the two separate softwares.
