Can someone describe to me the pros and/or cons of disabling the inlet EPC control on a 7890 using constant flow?
Perhaps you can give us a little more background as to why you would want to do this? EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) provides very fine control of flows and allows stable constant flow and pressure. You would have never seen the advancement in column and flow technology such as small bore columns , CFT , , pressure and vacuum compensation etc if EPC wasnt invented.
I'm not necessarily wanting to do it. Trying to clarify this with another chemist.
Are you asking about the pros and cons of constant flow vs. constant pressure? That would be a worthwhile discussion, and there are indeed situations in which to use one versus the other. If that's not what you're asking, we need some more details on what exactly you're looking to clarify. I would concur with James -- if you're looking to disable electronic pneumatic control in favor of manual gas regulation, that's not something we would recommend.
I have marked this as assumed answwered. If you have more questions , please feel free to post again.
