Shutdown Method - CDS 3.2

Hello,

We have >10 LCs in our lab, many of which are "unique" in that they have different detectors, autosamplers, some with chillers, etc.  Because of this, we have a unique shutdown method for each instrument that we add to the end of each run que.  We ran into an issue a couple of times where the wrong instrument shutdown method chosen, which kicks an error (not sure the exact error, something about instrument configurations not being correct).  When it does this, the system essentially ignores the shutdown method and continues to pump.

Is there a universal setting where you can tell the instrument to shutdown when faced with a method/instrument configuration conflict instead of ignoring the error?

Thanks!

  • Hi

To shutdown flow and turn off lamp after sample run, use shutdown method as the last executed method of sequence.

Basically, it's generation of shutdown method and selection of this method to be executed at the end of run.

So, make shutdown method, define a stop time for the modules you want to shutdown. Then for pump, define a stop time in pump method screen..

  • Thank you for the reply.  And yes - we do have a shutdown method for the various LCs.  However the issue we are seeing is due to human error - the wrong instrument shutdown method is being selected.  This doesn't happen routinely, but when it does, it is problematic.

In the event that the wrong instrument shutdown method is selected, the shutdown method is not run because of an instrument configuration mismatch.  Are you aware of a setting that can shut the instrument off when faced with such an error, instead of continuing to run?
