MassHunter Optimizer with pre-determined precursor and product ions?

I am trying to use Optimizer 1.2 to determine fragmentor and collision energy for about 200 pesticides. I have known precursor and product ions. The manual says that if precursor and product ions are known, only the final MRM optimization is done and it is much faster. OK, great!

The problem is that I cannot find a way to give it a range to scan for these parameters. For example: if the method in Optimizer Setup has a collision energy of 50, it will only scan from 45-55 no matter what range I give it in optimizer setup. Why does it scan such a small range without any way to change this?

I could do the full optimization letting it choose precursor and product ions, but this will take a very long time with the number of analytes that I have.

  • Tech support got back to me. Optimizer will use the ranges that you enter in Optimizer Setup if you choose a product ion scan as your method (not MRM). Then you can manually enter the known precursor and product ion scans on the Compound Setup tab.
