signal-to-noise determination

I was able to obtain the signal to noise ratio using classical reporting. But how is this value determined by software. Based on height or area? Can I use the results Signal/Noise directly from ChemStation to determinate the signal to noise ratio 3:1?

The signal-to-noise calculation would be based off of height, not area. 

You might want to consider using an Intelligent Report. The Performance+Noise.rdl report template will by default report the calculated 6sigma, Peak-to-Peak, and ASTM noise for your defined noise regions as well as calculate Signal/Noise using the 6*SD and USP methods for each peak.
