There are some significant differences between the Cary 60 and Cary 8453- The Cary 60 has a Xenon Lamp, while the Cary 8453 uses D2 and Tungsten lamps. The Cary 60 has a true monochromator with a scanning grating, while the 8453 optics uses a Photo Diode Array to acquire the whole spectrum quickly.
