See the following topics for answers to common questions regarding the MassHunter Productivity App.
Acquisition
Can I have MassHunter Acquisition open at the same time as the Productivity App?
Yes, however, doing so will disable all worklist and method editing functionality in MassHunter Acquisition while both programs are open. The behavior is the same whether MassHunter Acquisition was started before or after the Productivity App.
Can I import a sequence outputted from my LIMS?
Yes, you can import a list of samples from CSV directly into the Productivity App. For an example CSV layout, see the installed example sample list at <MassHunter Home>\Documentation\Productivity App\Example Files.
Can I create a fixed sequence that a user cannot modify?
Currently there is no way to prevent a user from editing the sequence, however, you can create a semi-fixed sequence by saving a sequence to be reused.
Can I open a MassHunter Acquisition worklist in the Productivity App?
Not directly. If you want to import existing worklist files, they first need to be converted to CSV before importing, however not all column information can be imported. For the available column information, see the installed example sample list at <MassHunter Home>\Documentation\Productivity App\Example Files.
Will editing the sequence or compound information affect the current run?
No. Once you start the sequence, the Productivity App maintains a copy of the sequence and compound information. This frees users to set up their next sequence before the prior run has completed.
Can I edit the sequence or compound information after I start the run?
Not currently. This enhancement is a planned feature for a future release.
Can I queue multiple sequences to be run one after the other?
Not currently. However, you can prepare the next sequence and compound information while the current sequence is being acquired. This enhancement is a planned feature for a future release.
Can I run a sequence without calibration samples?
It depends. Because the Productivity App is designed to reduce operator error, it ensures that any acquired samples can be properly analyzed. In practice, this means that a sequence can only be run without calibration samples if there is a valid calibration table in the active MassHunter Quant method (at least two levels). In this scenario, the analysis will use the existing calibration table. If the active method does not contain a valid calibration table, at least two calibration levels must exist in the sequence.
Can I run a single sample?
It depends on the calibration table in the active MassHunter Quant method. See "Can I run a sequence without calibration samples?" for a complete description.
How do I enter new solvent fill volumes?
This must be done through the MassHunter Acquisition interface.
How do I fill down a column value?
While there is no specific command to "fill down" a column value, the Productivity App has extensive copy/paste functionality that can duplicate this behavior. This includes the ability to highlight some or all cells in a column and paste a value to the highlighted cells. For more information and examples of the intuitive copy/paste functionality built into the sequence table editor, see Streamlining Sequence Setup in the MassHunter Productivity App.
Data Review
Can I have MassHunter Quant open at the same time as the Productivity App?
Yes, however, the same data can only be opened in one program at a time.
Can I open data that was not acquired and analyzed with the Productivity App?
Yes. Because the Productivity App uses MassHunter Quant under the hood, any data analyzed by MassHunter Quant can be opened with the Productivity App. In order for the app to recognize the data, add a '.b' extension to the outer data folder that contains the '.d' data folders.
What if I need to perform data modification that is not possible with the tools in the Productivity App?
Because the Productivity App uses MassHunter Quant under the hood, the same data can be opened directly in Quant. Therefore, if a feature is not available in the Productivity App, it can be accessed through Quant. Please let us know if you need more data modification functionality!
How can I take full advantage of the new data review features?
See Data Review Protocol with Filter Sets and Optimizing Efficiency with Compound Groups for descriptions of novel features that can significantly reduce data review time.
Manager Setup
Can I transfer configuration options between computers?
Not currently. This enhancement is a planned feature for a future release.
Can I review the calibration samples before continuing the rest of the run?
Not currently. This enhancement is a planned feature for a future release.
Can I set up automated run monitoring rules or alerts?
Not currently. This enhancement is a planned feature for a future release. If you have ideas related to this topic, please let us know!
Methods
How can I modify the provided default methods?
The provided default methods are installed at <MassHunter Home>\Methods\Productivity App. These methods can be modified with MassHunter Acquisition or Quant and then added as a custom method into the Productivity App. See Considerations when Adding Custom Methods for additional information.
Can I add my own methods to the Productivity App?
Yes. See Considerations when Adding Custom Methods for more information.
How can I customize one of the default report methods?
If you want to customize the graphs displayed in the default report methods, they can be modified directly in MassHunter Quant. However, if you want to modify the report layout or the displayed information, the underlying python script must be modified. For more information, see Create a Custom Report Method.
How can I add an existing report method to the app?
If you have an existing report you want to use, it can be added directly to the app given it meets the criteria documented in Create a Custom Report Method.
