Hi All,
I've got a method on LCMS (LC/MSD iQ) which started out with 0.1% TFA, which gives a good enough seperation, but as you can figure, the ion supression is quite a lot. I want to use formic acid (FA) tried 0.1 and 0.2% (0.2% significantly better in MS and when looking at resolution on column) but the resolution could be better. I'm afraid to use a higher FA concentration as I read that it might corrode the inside of the MS. I can't find actual data from Agilent anywhere. What is the actual maximum FA concentration that is ok to use in MS without the inside getting corroded? I'll see if it will give ion supression, but I just want to know if I can get higher (lets say up to 0.5%) without damaging the MS. I did notice Waters says max 0.2% but is that applicable for Agilent MS's as well?
Thanks!
