6546 Q-TOF does not pump down

Hi. Happy new year.

I am trying to pump down 6546 Q-TOF after a nitrogen generator was serviced. Unfortunately,  after several days, Turbo1 and Turbo2 are not pumping down although these pumps look working. Rough vac is also higher than usual (previously around 1.7 - 1.8, but now ~ 1.95). I am not sure what is the problem and how to address it. Would you help me? Thank you.

  • Hi  ,

Please try try to power cycle the QTOF to clear the error from the Smartcard. When nitrogen generators reach pressure under 80psi (in your case 0psi), this smartcard error can be difficult to clear unless we perform a power cycle.

To properly power cycle the QTOF:

    Shut down Acquisition

    shut down engines

Use the Smart Card shut down, follow the prompts

Turn the qtof off for 5 secs then back on

You should hear the valve turn

When the indicator light stops blink yellow you can start acquisition.

Please do let me know if the issue is resolved.
