I am working with an Agilent HPLC 1100 Series equipped with a binary pump G1312A. During a measurement, a significant pressure drop occurred when switching from Channel B (organic) to Channel A (aqueous). At that point, I noticed that solvent was leaking from the Channel A pump.
After replacing the seals on the sapphire pistons, the leak stopped, but stable pressure cannot be achieved on Channel A. Instead, I am experiencing severe pressure fluctuations, even when running isocratic flow with pure water. Channel B operates normally with consistent pressure.
Steps Already Taken:
-
Replaced piston seals on the sapphire pistons:
- The leakage issue was resolved, but the pressure fluctuation on Channel A persists.
-
Cleaned inlet and outlet valves:
- Both valves were disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled.
-
System purged:
- Purging performed at 4 mL/min with the purge valve open to remove any air bubbles.
-
Tested the flow path:
- With the column disconnected, the flow on Channel B remains stable, but Channel A still shows fluctuations, regardless of whether a column is connected.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on what might be causing this problem? Any advice on diagnosing and fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Falko
