Analysis aborted due to G1316C valve not present

Hello, did anyone experienced this trouble? During run on Agilent UPLC 1290 type the analysis is aborted and error message "Valve not present" appears on module G1316C (TCC module) but the module does not have the valve originally. Previously we used OpenLab but now we are currently using Empower 3. In Openlab we have not experienced this error. What could be the problem?

  • Can you check the method you were running at the time of the abort? If that method originated from another Agilent HPLC that had the valve configured it's possible the setting was retained when you ran it on the 1290.
Often times remaking the instrument method from scratch takes care of these types of issues.

  • I would be checking the Instrument configuration, and especially the G1316C configuration in Empower 3. Check with Waters on that if you are are not sure. I would also re-create the instrument method in Empower using a clean method template or whatever the Empower equivalent is in Waters SW.

If the instrument configuration in Empower 3 matches exactly what is physically installed in your LC system, and if the method is created from a clean default template, then that will eliminate at least a couple of variables from the equation.

Have you posed this question to Waters? If so what was their response?
