"Back detector not installed" error message

We set our polar instrument to run, it was set to run overnight

The next morning, we saw the run had stopped midway and not gone through the entire list. Also, of the things that were run, the Mass Spec did not pull over.

The instrument had a message saying "Back detector not installed"

When trying to run a tune, an error message appeared saying TUNE ACTION STOPPED: GAIN AND OFFSET=0 AND PEAKS ARE TOO NARROW!

We do not know what may have caused this. Is it a software issue? An instrument issue? We have never seen this before.

Two separate symptoms. "Back Detector not Installed" - was that notice on the GC itself or the software? Was it in the Sequence Logbook?

"Tune Action Stopped: Gain and Offset=0 and Peaks are Too Narrow" -- could be as simple as there is no PFTBA tuning compound in the bulb.

It could also be that the ion source is dirty, a filament is broken, or other issues. Please check the PFTBA level, try the other filament, and clean the ion source and check or replace the filaments.
