HydroInert Ion Source

The HydroInert source is only compatible with the 5977A and newer GC/MSD systems configured with the Extractor ion source.

Hydrogen can be used as carrier for many GCMS analyses.  There will be some changes to the analysis, and it will take some experimentation to optimize the method with H2.  I haven't seen H2 used for VOC analysis myself, so I don't know what potential problems there may be specific to VOC analysis.  If you are considering switching to H2, we have a guide available to help with the process: https://www.agilent.com/cs/library/usermanuals/public/user-guide-coverting-ei-gcms-instruments-5994-2312en-agilent.pdf.  The information there is applicable to all Agilent GCMS systems.
