Fast Degrading of DB-FastFAME 30m Column

What must have happened? - I got a DB-FastFAME 30m column and in less than 3 months the chromatography is bad (poor resolution of 37 FAME reference mix). Only condition that changed was removing the column from an older GC (5890 fitted to a 5972 MS) to the newer 6890N fitted to 5975 MS

    As ISH already mentioned water and air are often the analytes degrading a good column, especially at higher temperatures. Even the tiniest leak will constantly add air/water to the carrier gas and the more polar a column is, the more it is defenseless against air/water attacks. When this happened there is no way of conditioning the column back to good health.
