5973 Tune Failure

Thanks Paul.  PFTBA vial full, valve audibly clicks and I swapped out to another valve just to be sure.  Filaments may be suspect but visually look ok and show continuity with multi meter.  Vacuum with column installed is 1x10-5.  Source cleaned couple months ago but very little sample load.  Pump oil only couple months old.  I blanked the transfer line taking the GC out of the equation, still same error.

I'm really thinking side board or HED power supply problem.

HED Power supply - in Manual Tune, turn the HED off, then turn the EMV up -  maybe two hundred volts higher.  Can you see any peaks at all in Spectrum Scan, PFTBA on, Filament one on?  Filament two on?    Turn the AMU Gain and Offset to zero.   Any peaks at all in the Spectrum Scan?

I don't think it's side board or HED power supply problem.

We faced same problem.

One time column was more out from transferline in MS.

2nd time, We cleaned source ( replaced repeller as it was very scratchy and replaced EM horn and problem was solved.

Generally, we are keeping one extra Ion source assy and EM Horn  in Lab to verify the problem.

Stupid question for the day......in manual tune, I see HEDEnab ON, but it doesn't appear to be a parameter that can be turned off?

sorry. 5973 on Chemstation, been a while.  In Manual Tune on the command line, type this:    MSPARM HED,,0    that turns it off    and then    MSPARM HED,,1    will turn it back on.
