connecting two columns to a msd

good day!
I have a question.

Can I connect two-column to an ms detector? can i use a tee? will it be safe for the turbo pump because the flow will increase?

  • hello azrael,

the simplest solution is a TWO hole ferrule, whereby both columns must have the same outer diameter.
    see for this: https://www.agilent.com/store/en_US/Prod-5062-3580/5062-3580

    for the purpose of flows:
the analytical column that is used gets the "normal" flow.
the unused column gets a drastically reduced flow.

    pumps:

This should only be installed with (high performance) turbo pumps.

Turbo pumps have a maximum flow & an optimum flow, usually at 50% of the maximum flow.

With a HES I.S. the flow is very important, i.e. it must not be too high!

    regards, M.
