Transfer method from 6890N to 7890B

Hi,

I am transferring a Test Method from the 6890N to the 7890B. The sample is THF.

Using the ALS with a 10uL syringe the injection volume is 0.2uL.

When i run the sample on the 6890N the peak area is about 500,000.

When i run the sample on the 7890B the peak area is about 100,000.

What would cause the difference in the peak areas?

The only difference i can see between the instrument methods is the mode on the 7890B is set to Pulsed splitless and the 6890N is set to splitless.

As far as i can see all other testing parameters are the same.

The Injection volume in the sample set is 0.2uL.

Thanks

  • Hi Janna,

Do you have multiple compounds in your injection to compare using a relative response factor?  It is tough to compare two different systems on area response alone.  You don't mention a detector, but I think you may have an FID.

Are you using the same autosampler on both systems?  Same liners?  For best comparison, I would set the 7890B to a standard splitless injection, then evaluate new features once you are certain you have equivalent performance.

  • Hi Abbey,

I am injection THF so its just one peak. Yes it is FID that i am using.

The autosampler on the 6890 is the 7683B and on the 7890  it is the 7693A.

I have used the same type of liner on  both GCs (Agilent part number 5062-3587).

    Thanks

    Janna
