Negative signal in FID

FID base signal has become lower and lower, so lit offset had to be set to 0. The flame ignites but the signal is in the negative values and teh baseline is totally flat: peaks are detected, but the baseline is cut off because in teh negative.

Could it be the FID board that needs to be changed, or is there some way to offset the basleine higher so it does not go into negative?

The instrument is a 7890A

  • Hello  ,

I have never heard of the lit offset be set to 0, I am not sure that is a valid value. The lowest I heard it set at is 0.5 pA. Does the flame ignite with difficulty?

Have you had any power problems at the site? Does everything else work fine on the GC (inlets, second detector if applicable)?

Lastly, are you plugged into a UPS or directly into the wall? Also, is it a dedicated circuit?
