6890N Cool On Column Injector Keeps Getting Stuck

We a have 6890N with cool on column inlet, and the autosampler keeps getting stuck in the inlet/septum while injecting sample. We have tried replacing the injector with known good ones, and it still happens. We changed the septum, septum nut, spring, and insert. It might run one or 2 samples, then gets stuck again. It stops while it's injecting then just stays in the septum. The front side is a split/splitless inlet, and this doesn't happen on the front. Could it be a board issue? I believe the injectors plug into the main board of the GC, correct? Has anyone seen this? We have another 6980N with the same inlet type and this doesn't happen.

Thanks,

  • There are some syringes where the needle is too large a diameter to fit in the COC sleeve, even though it fits into the actual column ID.

IIRC they were the Agilent ones with the blue & white writing.

Replacing the syringe with the older routine kind was needed even though the blue ones were just fine on every other GC.

Also check the firmware on the 6890, if the firmware is too old some injectors having the nanoliter adapter will stick at certain injection sizes but not others.
