8890 main board hole?

Agilent has introduced a lot of changes since 6890. Now on the 8890 there is no hole on the "main board". Even the name has changed too. Now the board name is Analog and Power board. The Aux heaters (for valves or MS) now routed at the top of the GC.

I guess the more important question is whether there is a way to bring a transfer line out the right hand side of the instrument if one wants. Note, that as long as there are no electronics or other components that I'd shred, I'm not adverse to making my own holes in the instrument. Trying to find a way to be creative for a friend who wants to do something a bit off the wall.

Just to be sure, you want to make a hole on the plastic cover for the MS transferline?

To be clear, we want to do something like put a MS on the left of the GC (like in ISH's photo) and then put something else on the right of the GC with a transfer line coming straight out the right hand side, through the oven wall, through any plastic covers, and out to the world. Again something like the headspace sampler to the right in ISH's photo, but straight out the side so that it is short. Not up and out the top as that would be too long, introduce delays and more importantly possibly a bunch of band broadening.

Not quite... running a transfer line like that through the top is fine as an inlet where you're going to focus material in a cool oven with a thick column, but it would be deadly on the outlet, I believe. You'd lose all your separation. Unless you could temperature program the transfer line and leave column in it so it was basically just an extension of the oven.  We'd rather avoid that level of complexity.

This is heated transferline and temp. is controlled by software as per method requirement..

There is no exposure of sample passing in cool environment..

All sample passing through a controlled temp. environment...
