7890 Test Plot

Question

Can someone explain the use of the Test Plot function on the 7890? Currently we have several 7890's controlled by Waters Empower CDS. Prior to the 7890's we had 5890's collecting date via a SAT/IN using Waters Millenium CDS. Part of our OQ protocol for the 5890's was to collect a Test Plot. Is this still necessary if we are sending a digital signal to our current CDS? Thank you!

The Test Plot can be used for troubleshooting or verifying the operation of external data processing devices. 
 Whether the Test Plot is still necessary for your OQ protocol will depend on your company's written validation documents and regulatory obligations. My apologies for the vague answer but each customer is responsible for defending their own practices during a potential audit, Agilent is not able to tell you what you should or should not do. 
 That said, Agilent standard hardware OQ protocols for the 6890, 7890, and 8890 systems, being controlled by Agilent or 3rd party software, do not use the test plot. Agilent OQ protocols incorporate chemical injections using Agilent detector checkout standards.
