Hello, how can you configure an Agilent 7890B GC System w/7697A Headspace Sampler to do liquid injections with an ALS tower? The headspace transfer line is integrated into the GC inlet gas line.

I have created a new method to perform liquid injections with the ALS. The inlet pressure will not stabilize and never becomes ready for injection. How should the inlet carrier flow be plumbed for liquid injections considering that there is an integrated headspace line attached to the inlet port.

    Can you share pic of inlet where autoinjector and headspace connected with GC?

    Or confirm that autoinjector and headspace is connected with same inlet of GC.

    What software you are using?

  • I disconnected the transfer line from the inlet in hopes of finding a plug to isolat the inlet for ALS injections only.

    I am using Empower 3, build 3471.

  • Actually, now, as you have removed heaspace then check carrier line of inlet from EPC..Is it via headspace or direct from EPC.

    But before that replace septa and tight nut properly and check for leak from column connection in oven.

    And if you have maintenance experience then you can check all connection of carrier going to GC inlet.

    And last, you can call to your local agilent support to do modification to put require setup onsite...

  • I have reached out to Agilent and they informed me that I will need a firmware update. A PID constant firmware update. I should be getting the update file sent to me and my IT group to help with firewalls. Then I will be able to inject in spitless mode using the ALS with the G3969A transfer line interface. I had replaced the septum previously and still had the fluctuations. Fingers crossed.
