Knurled nut too tight on 8890 split vent trap. Tricks or tips?

The knurled nut is too tight on our 8890 split vent trap and I can't get it undone. Does anyone have a trick for getting it unscrewed? It has not been changed since we got the equipment last year.

Hi 
 Wear cotton gloves and use hand to open..It's easily removes..Need proper grip on it and keep it horizontal during opening..
