Ion source radiator

I have the same question. Our 5973 is 23 years old and the area of the source radiator/magnet where the filaments align is very dirty. Could that contribute to noise in the baseline?

Are you talking about ion source body?? Can you share picture...

I've used the green micro-grit paper with a small amount of methanol. Rolling this mesh around a cylindric applicator makes it easier for smaller spaces. I never dared to use the micro-grit for the radiator.

Yes the radiator, just like this one. I'm not sure how to attach a photo. I'm not seeing that option.

The source radiator doesn't effect performance. I would leave it alone.

The radiator/ magnet area doesn't benefit from cleaning. What you are most likely seeing is ion burn and this doesn't effect performance.
