7890B Agilent GC Autosampler Issue

If you have tried a new ALS syringe, then the problem is most likely with the plunger motor itself. Replacement of the plunger motor would most likely be needed.

Error codes are below:

244(front), // EmptySyringe: syringe is empty but plunger home sensor not on

245 (front), // FillSyringe: Plunger outside error band during filling. Error when more

945(back) // than 140 counts behind or 70 counts ahead. (log_PlungerStuck)

// EmptySyringe: Fast (< 10msec/%) mode and encoder above 1 count at

// timeout. Slow (>= 10msec/%) and plunger falls 35 counts behind

// or can’t reach 1 count when stopped. (log_PlungerStuck)

//PartialEmpty: Plunger falls behind by 50 counts from desired trajectory

Does the grey/gray (depending on where you are from) clip that the needle sits in freely move up and down when a syringe is in?

also can you move the clip that is attached to the plunger of the syringe freely?

and finally, does the holder holding the syringe in fit snuggly around teh syringe or is it a little loose?

This bit should move slightly up and down, just a little:

If it's not moving at all and is still and unable to poke the needle through, that maybe the cause of your problems, the needle is stopping it going through. So try taking the syringe out and putting the neddle part through teh hole first then attaching it to the rest.

Ah I see so it makes a sound like a crunching noise?

If so it sounds like james_jenkins answer is more suited. The motor or a sensor has probably broke and needs replacing.

This is the exact error on the computer screen:

Sampler error #245: Autoinjector front tower plunger erro.

The gray part does not move at all. Its locked in a single place and I think it always has.

The plunger part that screws into the syringe? That goes freely up and down, but seems a little loose.

Holder fits snug.

The needle goes through the hole just fine when it enters a vial.

What happens is the plunger from the plunger support just suddenly jars up fast when drawing sample in and it goes into error state.
