Compound concentrations increasing???

We analyzed effluent samples via our GCMS system paired with an ATOMX purge and trap. All of a sudden, we have noticed a big increase in certain compounds concentrations and can't explain why.

Typically, we make three standards: gases, solvent liquid mix, and liquid mix and combine them together. We are noticing the third mix (in red) are producing results higher and higher than what we are target. Any recommendations on troubleshooting or what is going on? THANKS!

  • Here are some suggestions.

    1. Talk to the vendor that makes the purge and trap they probably will help you.

    2. Leak check your purge and trap system. (Glassware leaks leaks around the internal standard vessels ect can cause problems.

    3.  Don't run out of Helium ever.  Use 2 regulators and a T fitting.  Set one to like 90 and the other to like 100 psi and the 100 tank will empty and the 90 one will  kick in.  Also, try purging with Nitrogen.

    4.  If you only have a few samples maybe just send them to another lab?
