We use a dual-column system with a CFT plate.
DB 17-MS 20 m to CFT port 1 --> CFT PORT 2 --> DB 17-MS 20 m --> FID System
This FID system has been experiencing the error message “EPC pressure 1,2,3” issues around 2023. It looks like the CFT plate was replaced but the problem continued and then got dropped off.
We determined that the dual columns needed to be replaced due to peak sensitivity issues.
After installing the system again. We keep receiving the same error: EPC not ready 1,2,3
I noticed that the AUX pressure set point is around 16.2 and the instrument was reading 18.1.
I did use an old flow meter to check the FID and everything seemed normal to my eye.
Yesterday we found some information from an Agilent manual that suggested the following to Zero the pressure sensor:
My question is:
When it says to disconnect the gas supply line at the back of the GC. Turning it off is not adequate:
When it says the gas supply needs to be plugged in order to calibrate the pressure sensor?
Is that ALL gas lines including inlet, or is this APC related only and we can plug the back of the APC?
My thought was that only the AUX 1 port needed to
So we plug the APC port 1 with one of those white caps.
We did not plug any of the gas inlets
But we did shut off all of the valves we had to the back of the instrument and followed the instructions.
This did help the AUX pressure enough to be able to submit blanks without the error message again.
But I don’t want to say it “worked” without checking this was the best way to calibrate the AUX pressure?
We have not tried to recalibrate the flow yet.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
