File Upload Queue Error

I'm running OpenLab CDS 2.5 (Update 5) with ECM (3.6.4.0) in a client/server environment. We are FDA regulated, Part 11 compliant, so I have to be super careful with data. An analyst reported that his data is missing when he tries to find it on ECM. I looked into it... no errors being reported by ECM, activity log shows the sequence completed, nothing out of the ordinary. Logged into the AIC, and there are is a stack of files in the File Upload Queue. The error being reported is: "The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state.". I tried resubmitting the files and I get the same error. Our other 7 AICs do not have the same error.

I contact IT and am told "have you tried turning off and back on again?"

Here's my question: can I reboot the AIC while there are files in the upload queue? Will they be lost forever or will they be back in the queue when the system comes back? Or is there some other fix to implement?

  • Hello,

Check to make sure the time on the AIC is within 5 min of the ECM server time. You can also open the ECM client on the AIC and make sure you can upload a test file to ECM. You can safely reboot an AIC with files in the upload queue as they will not be deleted until they are successfully uploaded to ECM. You do want to make sure no instruments on that AIC are running injections when you reboot. If you cannot clear this issue I would open a ticket with informatics.
