There are 3 column configurations for the use of packed columns in 78XX or older systems: A, B and C.
These column configurations are only needed for glass and 1/4-inch stainless steel columns, 1/8-inch Stainless steel columns can easily be bend in every direction, and therefore are shipped in one model (configuration C).
See below the explanation for the older type GC’s (78XX and older.)

Additional Information about 88XX GC’s
Configuration A is not an option for 88XX GC’s, this will not fit.
If the customer so far has been using A configuration columns, they now would need to use a C configuration column.
What they need for this C configuration is the purged packed inlet adapter in combination with a detector adapter for the 88XX GC’s:
- G3450-20344, 1/4-inch Packed Column Adapter
- G3450-20342, 1/8-inch Packed Column Adapter
The B configuration with a TCD will work the same as with the older models, with the adapters G3450-20344 and G3450-24342.
If the 88XX system is equipped with ECD, then glass columns cannot be used as they do not fit the oven. The solution is to switch to 1/8-inch UltiMetal deactivated packed columns.
