ECD liner

Question

Hi all,

The lab has an Agilent 5890 GC with an Agilent ECD. We found a liner inside the column adapter. Is this normal? How often is this supposed to be changed? The column runs through it, so it doesn't look like it would get contaminated or worn.

Hi Josh-

Yes, this is normal. I'm not sure if there's a recommended replacement interval for it, but I can say that the only time we replace ours is when we replace the ECD or if it breaks. If you start having performance issues, it could be something to look at, but as long as everything is behaving you're probably fine.
