Scientists commonly use SEC to measure aggregation of proteins in solution. A size exclusion chromatography (SEC) column is a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) column that separates analytes by size. The column is made of a cylinder-shaped housing that has been filled with porous particles, which serve as the stationary phase.
