Which elements do you want to measure and what are their approximate concentrations?

Because seawater has % level salt, you would need to make large dilutions in order to analyze on the MP, and then I'm afraid your metal concentrations will be diluted below the detection limit.  

again thank you for the insights. how about using the methods used in aas for such analysis? is it possible to use them in mp-aes? like doing an extraction using DTPA or MIBK. thank you.

You could do an extraction with MIBK and run on the MP, but in order to run any organic solvent on the MP, you need the EGCM (External Gas Control Module). Do you have the EGCM on your MP?

I highly appreciate this input and made me realized that there are things that I need to know more about the MP. I will checked if the EGCM was included when we purchased the MP. Will the need for the EGCM also applicable for alcohols? I am asking for I came across a paper that did an extraction using PAR that was diluted with ethanol/HCl mixture then aspirated to the MP. Thank you.
